Carl Travels is written and published by Carl Tomich, an Australian documentary filmmaker and travel creator. The site focuses on firsthand travel guides, living-abroad notes, filmmaking gear, creator workflow, and practical lessons from time spent on the road.
How Guides Are Written
Travel articles are intended to be based on places Carl has visited, filmed, researched for a trip, or lived near long enough to give practical context. When a page includes general planning information, the goal is to separate firsthand observations from details that should be checked against current official sources.
Dates, Prices, Rules, and Sources
Travel information changes quickly. Prices, visa rules, opening hours, transport routes, and entry conditions should be treated as planning guidance, not a guarantee. Pages are reviewed and updated when errors are found, when a destination changes, or when a guide is prepared for a new season.
Reviews and Affiliate Links
Gear and service recommendations should explain why a product or service is useful, who it suits, and what the drawbacks are. Some links may be affiliate links or sponsored links. Commercial links may generate a commission or referral credit. Any advertised discount remains subject to the provider’s terms. These relationships are disclosed on relevant pages and in the Affiliate Disclosure.
Corrections
If something is inaccurate, outdated, unclearly sourced, or missing important context, email carl@music-records.com.au with the page URL and the issue. Corrections are reviewed manually and updated on the page when appropriate.
Medical, Legal, and Financial Topics
Some articles discuss travel-adjacent topics such as dental tourism, visas, citizenship paperwork, insurance, money cards, or cost of living. These pages are personal or practical travel content and are not a substitute for professional medical, legal, immigration, tax, or financial advice.
Research, Editing and Tools
Research and editing may use software, including AI-assisted tools. A tool-generated sentence is not evidence of a visit, product test or personal experience. First-person claims must be supported by Carl’s existing reporting, notes, photographs or recordings. Product documentation is identified as documentation rather than presented as independent testing.
What an Update Means
A substantive update should identify the information checked and link to the relevant sources. A technical change to navigation, image delivery or metadata does not by itself mean that every fact in an article has been freshly verified. Where official sources disagree, the article should explain the uncertainty rather than invent a single answer.
